Short hair don't care.

We're on our way home and It's Halloween too! So much to be excited about!
Sorry to disappoint, but you won't find any Halloween-themed post here today, rather a bunch of short-haired girl crushes. I've (Erin here) been contemplating going back to my short-haired ways, and these beauties are really encouraging me to do it. What do you think?
Ever come across one of those blogs that you just lose track of time on? This beauty - Coline's blog was one of those. Holy moly what a stunner. Both of the above photos are of her. Think I'm going to chop my hair off when I get back from our trip!

Saw this blonde babe over at Nasty Gal

Another blonde beauty found over here.

Such a pretty cut & girl!

Michelle Williams from Elle UK 2011. Seriously how cute is she?

This cut is completely perfect.

Orange is the new black.

In honor of the fact that Halloween is tomorrow, we thought we would do a little throwback to our old Hues-day posts and share some orange & black goodness with you:
Fact: When I was a little kid we used to have two cats who I loved oh so dearly, but unfortunately we had to give them away because we discovered that I was terribly allergic. One of them was orange, and I still miss them today. Maybe one day I will get another... in the mean time, I can live vicariously through adorable photos of orange kitties like this one

Black knee socks, platform wedges, and skirts are all must-haves for fall.

Soups are one of my favorite meals. I need to try this recipe for roasted vegetable soup with rosemary and pine nuts as soon as we get back!

Peaceful orange loungers. The view isn't too shabby either.

And last, but certainly not least, a little black and white JGL never hurt anyone. ;)

Happy Halloween you guys!

P.S. WE'RE HOME TOMORROW!

Swimming upstream.

This photo is just so pretty. Photo by Amamak photography on Flickr.

Just the best capture! I love that her suit matches the sea. This photo has sold already, but check out the Ebay shop it was in for lots of more amazing shots!

Believe it or not, that's Janice Dickinson in the 80's form Vogue France.

Slim Aarons shot this poolside photo in 1968 at the Villa Vera Racquet Club in Acapulco, Mexico.

Just a classy broad in polka dots on the beach.

Stef's fall wishlist.

I don't know about you guys, but there is something about fall that just puts me in the mood to shop. Maybe it's the fact that the weather is cooling down and I have an excuse to wear more layers and accessories without totally sweating to death. Hmmm... yeah, that must be it! On that note, here is a list of things that I wish I could get my hands on this autumn season:

Shop Stef's wishlist here:
ankle boots, midi ring, orla kiely wallet, sunnies, black sparkle nailpolish, color block dress, purse, knit sweater, over-the-knee socks, dark purple lipstick, platform shoes, & turquoise coat.

Hi guys! Well, we are still living it up in Bali (sorry to rub it in) and we hope that all is well on the home front. Here's a few things that we've been loving lately...
Sweatshirt // Pick-up line coasters // Granola // Farfalle necklace
Our pals over at the Drake Hotel recently launched their online store - Drake General Store, and we are loving it! We know where we're doing a bunch of our Christmas shopping this year, they really do have something for everyone!
They are offering our readers a 20% discount if you use the code OHSOLOVELYVINTAGE
If you're ever in Toronto, you should definitely make sure you visit them!

Beret's make us think of cute french girls carrying baguettes, so we thought we'd share this delicious looking garlic bread recipe found here.

Perfect words by Dr Seuss.

The fluffiest cat you ever did see!

Cozy colorful coats.

Yes, we are currently half way around the world in scorching hot temperatures where coats are rarely (if ever) needed, but soon enough we will be back home to reality and we have cute coats on the brain! Take a gander at some of these colorful beauties, all of which would pop so beautifully against a snowy white winter landscape. Which one is your favorite?!

Book club.

Well, we're already long gone, but thought we'd share a list of what we're reading this trip! We find that these trips of ours are almost the only time we ever find to read, so we go hard while we're lounging by the pool or the beach. Pretty sure our bags are half book weight! Have you cats read anything incredible lately?

Come dine with me.

I think that one of my favorite things to do in life is host a dinner party for my close friends and family. I love doing everything from preparing the meal to picking the perfect centerpiece. I'm always looking for different ideas and new ways to change up my table and place settings so I thought I would share some pretty ideas with you for your next dinner party:

If you are dining outdoors, stick poles or sticks into the ground and hang lights above the table. Once the sun sets it will give off the prettiest light and create a beautiful ambiance.
(source.)

Write the menu for the evening on a paper bag with a mini baguette inside. This is a fun way to let your guests know what delicious treats you have in store for them.
(source.)

Use old medicine bottles or liquor bottles for vases. The more variety, the better.

Use an old typewriter to type out your place cards and pin them to wine glasses using mini clothespins.

Set your table with a pretty tablecloth and off-set the boldness of the print with neutral dishes. Also, use complimentary food for centerpieces like tomatoes or apples.

I also love this centerpiece idea: A long skinny piece of wood (or even a tray) filled with a line of tealights. So simple and also very practical because it doesn't block your guests' sight line across the table. Not to mention tealights are great for setting the mood..

Keep some of these ideas in mind when planning your next get-together!

Weekly lovelies.

Hello from Thailand! :) As always we are having a fantastic time out here! It's pretty incredible to think that we are hanging out on the opposite side of the world from our homes right now. We hope that you all are having a great week too! Just because we are gone, doesn't mean we can't share a little dose of inspiration with you to start your weekend off right:
I'm sure I'm not alone when I wish that all records were peach.

I'm pretty jealous of anybody who lives in Atlanta right now, because this crepe restaurant is what dreams are made of.

The prettiest cake in all the land.

Whoa. As if. (Sorry friends, this has sold but we can dream, right?)

Truth.  xoxo

Green mango salad.

Like our last few trips, we are lucky enough to get to eat some pretty ridiculously amazing food while in Thailand. I have shared some of my favorite Asian-inspired recipes and now I'm sharing another recent favorite- green mango salad! It's so refreshing and I hope you like it.
Ingredients:

2 large green mangoes (pick ones that are really green and hard) julienned
2 Thai red chillies (birds eye chillies)
3 Tbsp crushed peanuts
1 large shallot, chopped
1 handful of chopped cilantro
2 Tbsp fish sauce
3 Tbsp of fresh lime juice
1 tsp soy sauce
1 clove of garlic
- First peel the mangoes and then julienne them. I used a mandolin which made it super easy!
- Next make a dressing with the fish sauce, lime juice, soy sauce and garlic.
- Toss the mango in a bowl with the sauce and then throw in the cilantro, peanuts and shallot along with the thai chillies.
- Grab a pair of chopsticks and dig in!

 XO, Erin

Let's Kickstart Le Vero!

Hello lovelies! This month our feature sponsor is a company called Le Vero. We are really into their concept of travel accessories personalized with vintage typewriters (obviously that is right up our alley!) They are currently in the process of getting their company off the ground and running, so let's give 'em a boost! Here is a little bit more info on what they are about:

Takuma is my fiance, and we started the brand Le Vero here in Tokyo 3 years ago after moving from Brooklyn, New York. Now we are doing a project on Kickstarter to raise funds to produce the next collection. The collection is a four piece set of business and travel accessories that are personalized by us using vintage Royal typewriters. We admire the clean design aesthetic of the 1960's and hope to reflect that in this collection.

All materials are quite lux using cowhide leather, 100% wool and strong Japanese canvas. Great thought was put in to making the pieces not only gorgeous, but extremely functional. You can find more information and back our project here on our Kickstarter page.

Pretty great concept, hey?! So let's help these lovelies out with their budding business! Hop on over to their Kickstarter page and show them some love!

XO

Oh so thankful.

We just wanna wish a happy Thanksgiving to all of our Canadian readers out there! In a perfect world we would both be in our kitchens baking homemade pies right now but in reality we are feverishly getting ready to leave for our big trip tomorrow! Eep! So exciting! We did manage to squeeze some quality family time in over the weekend, so it's all good!

We just want to take a minute and let you guys know how thankful we are for your continual support of our blog and our business. We literally could not be doing this without you, and we appreciate every single one of you soo much. So thank YOU. You guys seriously rule.

We have a lot of exciting new ideas and a bit of a new direction for our blog/business that we are excited to start working once we get back from our trip in the new year. We will definitely be sharing them with you soon.

We also just want to let our family and friends know how thankful we are to have them be a part of our lives. You guys are our backbones and we definitely wouldn't be where we are now doing what we love if it wasn't for your unconditional love and support. We love you guys!

Hope you all are having a wonderful Thanksgiving (or just a fantastic Monday for that matter.)
Lots of love from us to you,
Stef & Erin
xxoo

Psst.... even if it's not Thanksgiving today in your country, it doesn't hurt to let someone know you are thankful to have them in your life, hey? ;)

Holiday mode.

Today is my last day of work! I'm officially in holiday mode, after I publish this post I'm switching into the lowest of gears and I'm pretty thrilled about it! I just need to finish packing for my weekend trip and then before I know it Stef and I will be getting on our early Tuesday morning flight outta here! Here's hoping you all have a wonderful weekend, and to those of you fellow Canadians out there, have a good long Thanksgiving weekend!
Everything about this shoot from Audrey Grace just blows me away. Those colors!
I need to find a way to get this chair in my life.

I love banh mi, and I love tacos, so you better believe I'm going to be trying this recipe!

This shot makes me want to get up and twirl! How pretty!
